Off the tourist radar perhaps but very good. Small-not like the huge fried seafood places that are so typical. Nice choice of "tapas' items-they are actually small entrees rather than some tapas places that only give you a few bites of a selection. These were substantial enough to just have one with a salad for dinner then finished with an amazing butter creme cake. would definitely return.

I was not impressed. Very small format restaurant, approx. 10 tables. Waitress was overwhelmed with only 5 small tables (party of 5, party of 4, 3x party of 2). For a tapas restaurant, VERY limited selection of options for small plates. Very few vegetarian or gluten free offerings. The wine list was meager at best, featuring mostly domestic California reds, and some whites. I would not return. I would not recommend to others.

Just had dinner there tonight! Wow. Really enjoyable. We had four items: Crab Rangoon, Porcini Ravioli, Coquille a la Creme (scallops in a cream sauce), and Grilled Lamb Chops. ALL the food was excellent! My wife is quite the connoisseur of lamb, and she votes these chops the best she's had -- melt-in-your-mouth perfect! The Ravioli were recommended by our server, and did not fail to please! Fantastic! REALLY really get them. The scallops were good, I think we liked the sauce better than than the scallops per se. The crab rangoon was pretty good too, and came with a very delicious cherry-plum chutney. Some of the poor reviews of this place note slow and inattentive service. When we arrived (around 5:30), we were the first ones there, and were seated right away, and had drinks and orders taken in very short order. By the time we left, there were four or five tables, and still only the one server/hostess/bartender for them all. So, while we didn't have any problems with the service, I can see how this could easily become problematic. Like most places we've visited on Hilton Head Island, this establishment would benefit from an additional employee on duty. My recommendation - go early, get the amazing food, and don't worry about people who show up later and get less good service! P.S. - Don't forget to order the Porcini Ravioli.

I liked Tapas more than my four table mates did, but those who write history get to slant the outcome. I thought the good was very tasty and the small plates were fun to share. For "round one" we had the veg spring rolls (very good), pot stickers (fair), porcini ravioli ( excellent and I normally hate mushrooms). for round two we had the short rib (terrific), Apple Jack pork (ok), veal surf and turf (ok), seafood cake ( did not care for) and the venison (did not try). For dessert I really liked the warm butter cake, one piece was enough to share. One person at table did not care for it and only had one bite. One person said she didn't like it but gobbled up her share. The other three of us enjoyed it. Downsides I wish the more main dish played were easier to share. Some veggie sides would be nice. There was only one server and while Tiffany was personable she was at times overwhelmed and slow to clear plates or fulfill request. They REALLY need a busboy to keep the table clean and replace silverware. In short... I enjoyed and recommend as something fun and different. Some at my table felt it was not as good as "true tapas bars" in other cities. Oh and the backward "S" on the wall in TAPAS drove me crazy. Fix it guys! (See pic)

We went here last year around August since our family takes an annual trip here every year. First off, I don't understand why a restaurant would charge fine dining prices for low quality food and service. The waiter barely recognized we were there and the appetizer took forever to come out. When it did, we ordered the egg rolls, there were two of the egg rolls to feed 6 people. If you're gonna charge like a fine dining establishment I'm gonna expect a Morton's/McCormick/ruth kris type meal where the servers actually acknowledge your existence. Long story short, our family avoids this restaurant because we had an awful experience. We recommend you do the same.

It is with regret that I have to write this review so negatively but stick with me. My wife and I have dined at this restaurant in their older location at least 20 times. 17 or 18 of those times were fantastic service, fantastic food and a very welcoming atmosphere. They moved to their new location a while back in the Sam's Club - Bi-Lo shopping center on Hilton head. We dined there on Saturday night February16th for our anniversary dinner. We had a reservation at 8 PM as they said that was the earliest we could get in. We arrived about 15 minutes early, and there were only seven or eight tables in use of the total of 15 in the restaurant. We waited until after our reservation time 17 minutes to be exact for anyone to say hello, deliver menus, or pay attention to us at all after being seated at quarter till eight. We are were about to stand up and leave when a waiter finally came to the table. We told him could we please get some water and bread immediately and we knew what we wanted to eat. So we placed our order right then. We told the waiter our two appetizer choices, and that for dinner we would like two other entrées. Everything eventually pretty much came out at the same time which was extremely disappointing even after telling the owner to make sure that the appetizers came out first, as we did not believe the waiter was paying attention. In fact the waiter appeared to be completely stressed out to the max. I had the spring rolls and my wife had the fried green tomatoes. My spring rolls were just okay where in the past they used to be wonderful. My wife's fried green tomatoes were the worst I've ever seen served in this area. They were complete mush. I don't know how you can take a very firm green tomato, bread it and pan fry for a couple of minutes and it turn to almost water, but these were that way. I had the fillet mignon beef bordelaise, and my wife had the pork Apple dish. The meat used in my dish was absolutely not fillet mignon, as every piece of meat had gristle in it. It was also swimming in so much sauce it could have been used to create another dish of the same size properly. It was a very low grade of sirloin at best. My wife's pork dish was absolutely swimming in sauce as well, the apples were not crisp, and the pork was not tender. I really hate that this restaurant has turned into this compared to what they used to be. However, there is no way I can make a recommendation for anyone who lives here like us or visits our island. It is almost to the point that we just don't go out anywhere here any longer as the service, food quality, or friendliness of the staff same to be of no concern to the restaurant owners here. Why can I go to Columbia South Carolina, Atlanta Georgia, Charlotte North Carolina or pretty much anywhere outside of our area and get great food and service?

We had an amazing experience at Tapas Restaurant! Our family had fun trying the tapas style of ordering and sharing. We really loved being able to try so many things and discuss/compare/rate the dishes. Four hungry adults, we ordered two rounds of tapas (about 7 dishes total) and two desserts. Highlights included: coconut shrimp, goat cheese marinara dip, veal Cameroon, and shrimp-scallops Ardis. The server recommended the warm butter cake and it DID NOT disappoint. It was quiet (off season and a Tuesday) so we couldn't test the service but she made excellent recommendations and was very attentive. One of my best meals ever on the island-ever!

This place was such a wonderful experience. We had a large party and no prior reservations and they still were able to accommodate us. The food? Delicious. I had the pecan crusted tuna and it was just fabulous! It's run by the owners (husband/wife) and they couldn't be nicer. We all loved every minute of our time at dinner and cannot wait to go back!

The food and choices here are amazing! We tried 5 different tapas and all were so good! And don't let the strip mall location turn you off. It's really cute inside.

What a great little find! Decided to check it out based on other Yelp reviews and wanted to avoid the big tourist trap places. Wasn't too busy for a Saturday night, which is surprising since the food was amazing! Split the boneless ribs and mashed potatoes and the she-crab soup. The ribs were so tender and well marinated. The mashed potatoes were the perfect amount of mashed but chunky, and they used roasted red potatoes too, my favorite. Will definitely go back to try out more choices!

I have been frequenting Tapas for the past 6 years and Ardis and Max continue to deliver consistently superb quality food and service. A visit to Hilton head is not complete without a memorable meal here. It's our first stop on the island!!

We have been going to Tapas for about 5 years, every time we are on the island which is 5 or 6 times a year. Outstanding small portion meals. Atmosphere is OK. Owners are genuinely nice folks. Seems like their marketing isn't that great as it always seems relatively quiet, even when the island is hopping. Wait staff is nice, but are stressed out if the restaurant fills up.

Outstanding food. The 4 of us enjoyed all of our selections. Generous portions. Extensive menu with good service.

This place was nicely decorated with a lot of selection. Taquito black bean had spicy smoke sauce that was not very tasty. Artichoke mushroom cheese was ok. Partner thought fish was mediocre.

We discovered this restaurant while on a work related conference. The food was very good to excellent so we went back the following night to try other dishes as well. We even got to meet the owner/chef. She apparently spent some time in Spain learning and it shows. The food was very good to excellent. We did not try out every item on the menu and we did not try the items mentioned on the other review. I would definitely go back when we visit the area again. The ambiance is very casual.
